A long week ahead

Merdeka and the festive season have come round so everyone is looking forward to the long blissful week ahead with little to no traffic on the roads.  Why can't every day be like this?  Well we intend to enjoy it while it lasts.

On the cards tonight is a family makan - a cousin whom we have not seen in ages has come into town with his wife so it will be a round of catching up and loud, boisterous laughter at the dinner.  It is not often that we get a chance to meet up and of late, I have come to appreciate the value of family and the ties that bind.  Blood is thicker than water eventually and when push comes to shove, it will be your family that has your back.  Unfortunately hubby doesn't share the same sentiment and is not going tonight.  Shy, that's what he is, says my mum.  But he much prefers his own company and that of his kids as he is sorely lacking in social niceties skills.  For me, the gregarious person that I am, I look forward to times like this and wallow in the gossip that usually buzz around on these occasions.   Bless my little brother for taking the initiative to get everyone going and organising it.  Best of all, we don't even have to think of bring a dish as my hosting cousin has decided to provide a wonderful dinner for all!   Yum - can just imagine the wonderful smells and tastes of whatever gourmet dishes she is going to get.
